What moves the price: how much dirt moves, the dam, rock, and whether the soil seals. Heavy clay in parts of Rutherford seals well; fractured limestone may need a liner [1].

Cleanouts and dam repairs are priced after a walk. How much silt there is, how it's removed, and where the spoil goes vary too much for a fair range.

Help paying for a farm pond

If the pond waters livestock, USDA NRCS cost-share (EQIP practice 378) may help. Tennessee's FY2026 schedule pays $4.04 per cubic yard for an embankment pond with pipe and $1.84 for an excavated pit [2]. See our pond cost-share guide. Apply before work starts.
